The Chemistry Department, Faculty of Science for Girls is considered a leading center for university studies for undergraduate, Masters and Doctoral and one of the luminous things for the preparation and habilitation of woman to play her role in country-building and construction. At the beginning of its inception, it was a Department of Chemistry and physics or Chemistry and biology. The first graduation of students from this Department was in 1397-1398 Hijry. In 1399 Hijry, this Department was separated and became an independent Department of Chemistry to the current time.
The Department of Chemistry comprises the following four sub-divisions:
1- Physical Chemistry
2- Analytical Chemistry
3- Organic Chemistry
4- Inorganic Chemistry
This Department has a lot of the well established laboratories to meet the educational and research purposes, and to take advantage of potential laboratory and scientific competencies and expertise of staff members. The Chemistry Department was formerly Department to encourage and activate the scientific research.
The program of post-graduate studies, which started in the Department of Chemistry in 1399/1400 Hijry, was concerned firstly with masters program, while the doctoral program was started in 1403 Hijry.
The statistical data showed that the number of students that received a master's degree are 88, while the number of students with doctoral degrees are 57.
The Chemistry Department vision is to create the ideal academic environment to prepare our students as specialists in the fields of chemistry and support the process of country building and development.
